To Be Fat Like Me...!!!
A few days back I had tried out a recipe for chocolate cheesecake. It turned out pretty good, looked yummy, and tasted delicious. Since I have a knack of clicking pictures of good looking foods, I took some photos of that cheesecake and posted on my wall in a social medium. Many of my friends liked it and some commented as well. One so called friend left a comment saying “How much more you will eat, fatty?” At first I felt very bad and was furious, deleted the comment and was on the verge on removing him from my friend list. But then, just left it at that and put the matter in one of the don’t-care-cant-help pockets of my brain, where I have been storing these kinds of things all my life.
To those who have not seen me, I am a little healthy and overweight. You can even call me fat. But that is completely and solely my problem. Being fat is not a crime. Whoever is fat or overweight might have several reasons behind that. Some may even be medical or hereditary. But that is completely their personal matter and nobody should comment or question them on that. They are free to lead their life in any way they want to, just like everyone else. All my life I have met various people in different places, may be school, college, office, social media, where someone have commented on my weight. Somehow someone being overweight gives others this unknown right to sneer at them, make fun of them or insult them. I still wander where is this law written? And by some unseen standards, every person who is a plus size eats a lot! As if they are eating up from others money, people around them somehow feel it is absolutely ok to pass disgusting comment on their food habits. Have you ever thought it might hurt those people? Just because they have more tissue in their body does not mean that they have no feelings or they are made of wax. They have feelings and sometimes they are more sensible and sensitive than many of the insensitive jerks around them. If I am fat and I like food, what is your problem? Am I eating from your plate? No! Are you paying for my food? No! Then who gives you the right to treat me like your personal wash basin where you vomit all your vile thoughts and puncture my self esteem?
The people with a bigger body usually are the easier targets of public humiliation for delusional people who think that they are perfect by some unseen law of nature. But how and why? That question remains unanswered always. We all ask ourselves at some point in life that why is it always me? The answer might be within us only. Those people get the courage to make you feel bad about yourself, because you are not strong enough to see the good in yourself. You think that you are not good enough. Fat or obese people are generally the ones with an already inbuilt insecurity complex within themselves. They just let others run all over them because they just want to hide away. Some even start making fun of themselves to avoid others making fun of them. They are even more pathetic. When they look into the mirror, they see only the front. They see what everyone else see, their fat body. They don’t try to look a little deeper. If they do, they will see that behind the beautiful big body and their insecure veil, they have beautiful eyes which reflect a lot more than just mascara. They have a beautiful heart and they understand people in better ways than most.
We are all Cinderella, no matter our size. Within each one of us there is a unique beauty and grace. Finding that beauty, however, isn’t easy. See, Cinderella had to first recognize that the problem was not her step mother. Her problem was that it was easier to hide out cleaning the house than it was to go out and find happiness. She needed a fairy godmother to empower her with the kind of self confidence to reject the insecurity brought on by unrealistic, overachieving airbrush, anorexic princess images in the media. It took some very large pumpkins and rats for Cinderella to trade in her scrap brush for a fabulous pair of dancing shoes. But boy was it worth it!
May be if you did not put yourself down so much, you would not be so pathetic. You want a life get it. If you just stand up for yourself and start believing in yourself, you would shine in every possible way and no one will ever have the chance of even trying to put you down, ever again! So, no more broken cookies, no more hiding in the shadows! It is time you took the center stage in your life and steer it the way you want to. Each one of you is your own fairy Godmother. You just need to see inside of yourself. If you are a big girl with a big dream, then make it big in life and stride hard to achieve that.
So keep dreaming your dreams and creating your magic and writing your happy endings. And always keep smiling, you are the most beautiful girl in the world when you smile!! :) :)

ReplyDeleteDear brother, u r not fat. And u r an amazing person who is so warm ato heart. Stay this way and keep smiling always. And thank you so much for ur compliments. M glad you liked it. :) :)
DeleteFeels like its an ode to fat fraternity. But the problem discussed is as true as it can get. India being a free country gives different people different rights but on a legal point of view u do have a point. Even our Preamble states and I quote 'Fraternity assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integration of the nation'. Demeaning comments are not only hurtful but also legally punishable.....
