Cupid Pal!!

February has arrived dearies and the season of love is here! Love is in the air and everything is either pink or red! But if we shift our focus just a little from the couples around, we will see a few people behind the scenes who, most of the times, make this lovey-dovey thing happen! No, I'm not talking about Cupids or Angels of God! I'm talking about the self proclaimed human cupids, someone who go by the name of friends!!

Have you ever helped a friend get his date? Have you ever helped your friend get the attention of that special guy? Of course you must have! That’s what friends are for! You spend sleepless nights thinking how to get the girl out of her Hitler family house so that she can come and meet this idiot who will be snoring just by your side. Funny, isn’t it? But, true, nevertheless! All of us have been through this phase in our lives, or, are still in this phase. But we enjoy it, don’t we? When we see that sudden smile on the week-prolonged depressed or tensed face, we get great pleasure. And secondly, it’s human nature to rebel or take active part in doing such stuff! To a few, actually to most, it’s fun.

Everyone has been the Love Guru for their friends, its very common. But when you have your love interest in front of you, its... what was that? Oh Yes, its complicated! Then that friend you just helped is your Love Guru and he/ she takes all the pain in the world to set your world right. We open up to our friends totally, they can see inside our soul. Whether you are in some trouble or you are happy, your friend knows the exact reason behind every freckle of your skin and every twitch of your smile. Of course, they take immense pleasure to make fun of silly moments of your idiocy simply to irritate you but they got your back. You get irritated but still you have a constant smile when your friends tease you about something. For example, if your number is saved in your girl’s phone under the name of a lady, oh dear, you will never ever get to hear your real name again from your friends who by any chance come across this treasure!!

Friend is the name of that peculiar species who can take any pain for you, now and later make you pay for that when your purpose is served and you will be more than happy to do so!! They kick you in your deep sleep and criticize you in the worst possible way, but would fight against the whole world for you alone and never allow anyone else call you any foul name. This irritating person will eat up your head to take your eyes off your work to look up to the guy who apparently has a crush on you, and she, wants you to reciprocate!! Yet, you just cannot shout at her or get angry. At the end, you will do as she says just to get her off your back and then you get that sweet heart melting smile which takes all your frustrations away in a jiffy and you start hating her more!!

If you are a common friend and if, by God’s Grace, you are the only point of contact for both of them, then, my dear friend, you are in for some real good mess. Because, if any single calculation goes wrong, you are going to get it from both sides very badly. But then, we are always ready to take this risk, moreover, people are ready to put their faith in us. That’s called trust. Friendship stands and thrives on trust. A common friend’s life can be, at times, very miserable. You would feel like killing your friends who are constantly fighting and putting you in the middle of all the Mahabharata. But when you are successful in bringing the two made-for-each-other love birds back together again, you feel an inner content and an immense pleasure just by seeing your idiots smiling and happy again. You will become the cynosure of your friends’ eyes. And then, you enjoy the treats from both the sides and you take enough payback for all the pain, of course!!

But, hey, this is not Friendship Day; it’s the month of Love. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Then again, how can you celebrate love without these stupid cupid pals?!!!
